American Thoracic Society

After several years of full-service advertising sales, editorial and production on various print and digital publications for its meeting, Ascend assisted the American Thoracic Society in launching its convention center and hotel sponsorship program.
Now selling more than 60 sponsorship assets, in addition to Non-CME Symposia, Industry Theaters and Practical Workshops, Ascend also produces several unique maps and specialty publications for the meeting, with revenue growth of 963% from 2010 to 2018. In 2015 and 2016, Ascend also produced a series of patient-facing publications by repurposing content presented at the annual meeting. These were distributed to more than 16,000 ATS members for their patients, with some receiving additional exposure to more than 130,000 members of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

We had an individual room drop last year for an advertiser that consisted of several pieces of literature and a sample inhaler in a small plastic bag. The advertiser’s printer didn’t seal the bags, and used oversized boxes to ship them, without considering how they were packed. Another Ascend employee and I spent hours going to eight hotels to re-stuff thousands of these bags. But it was worth it to know our advertiser got its materials delivered correctly.
